A very full Club Coaching and Training Programme

Nobody needs to be told that its been a bumpy ride over the last 15 months or so, and its been tough trying to keep on top of easing and tightening restrictions.

But we've managed it and hopefully got through the worst of it, and in doing so we've been building a really strong club programme for the Club.

With the mantra "your winning line is where you want it to be", we're set-up to offer equal opportunities for individuals to perform at the level they desire, whilst keeping a community spirit and keeping training together as "whole club" sessions. So division 9/8/7 paddlers are training head-to-head with division 4/5/6 and division 1/2/3.

We've got 'sign-up' to Coaching being offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, through the Kingfisher Coaching Groups. The Coaching is following a programme of the British Canoeing Paddle Awards from Paddle Start and Paddle Discover to Racing Explore, Racing Perform and Racing Excel; which will all take the paddler on their development and progression journey though racing.

Then we have Club group & peer training taking place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays, these are all set sessions designed to maximise training time available - with an organised set of sessions you can plan your week. We can then encourage and assist with self-organised training sessions at other times in the week, depending on individual needs.

As a sample of our training week, whether division 9 through division 1, we have

  • interval training sessions on Tuesdays;

  • 3 km laps with wash-hanging on Thursdays;

  • CAP & technique sessions on Saturdays;

  • with 5km and 10km time-trials occurring on alternate Sundays.

The more experienced paddlers look-out for the more novice and we're all sharing experiences in one of the most friendly atmospheres that you can expect to find anywhere in sporting clubs.

Want to find our more about racing kayak Paddle Start Award or Paddle Discover Award Courses for non-members - and then join the Club for some amazing training? Then why not get in touch and we can let you know when the next courses are running.
